Congratulations to Tammy Dunn, DNP, the 3rd annual Lorrie Borrell Outstanding Nurse Practitioner Award recipient. The award was presented at the annual education conference on April 22nd, 2022!
The Lorrie Borrell Outstanding Nurse Practitioner Award was established in 2019 to honor Lorrie Borrell, the founder and first president of Laurel Highlands Nurse Practitioner Association. The award is to be presented annually to a nurse practitioner who has been proactive in protecting and enhancing the role of the nurse practitioner in the Laurel Highlands regional area. The candidate must be an active member of PCNP and Laurel Highlands Nurse Practitioner Association, should actively participate in community service, demonstrate active participation in the Laurel Highlands Nurse Practitioner Association as either an officer, active committee member, or other volunteer position in the association, and engage in activities that promote the nurse practitioner profession.
Tammy has been an active member of PCNP and Laurel Highlands Nurse Practitioner Association since 2016. She has served on the PCNP board of directors for several years. She attends meetings regularly on both the state and local level. She communicates updates from the state board meetings at the local meetings. She has participated in Lobby Day to advocate and support full practice authority. She consistently serves as a preceptor to NP students and encourages her students to join PCNP and attend meetings. She volunteers for Highlands Health Free Clinic in Johnstown. She has been actively involved with the Cambria Country Suicide Prevention Task Force since its conception. She is actively involved with the Cambria County Drug Coalition. She has also been involved with the Suicide Prevention walk held in Johnstown Central Park which raises money and awareness for suicide prevention and education. She is also actively involved with the VFW, providing support for Veterans and their families.
