Position Description

Full-time APP needed for outpatient Neurosurgery practice at ILH. 

Preferred Qualifications – Neurosurgery Experience and demonstrated leadership skills.

Work HoursMon-Fri  8:00a – 5:00pm (approximate)

Location: Inova Neurosurgery, 44055 Riverside Pkwy # 220, Leesburg, VA 20176

Prerequisites:

  • Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
  • Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification)
  • BLS
  • Virginia License
  • DEA

Responsibilities Include:

Clinical: Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem. Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets results. Develops, implements, evaluates, and alters the plan of care as needed. Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Patient Care:Provides care that is patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness and treatment of disease throughout the lifespan. Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team. Incorporates the patient and family in care planning and treatment across settings. Considers cost effectiveness and risk/benefit analysis when making decisions about patient care. 

Scope of Practice/Protocol for Neurosurgery APP: Acts as a subject matter expert in Neurosurgery. Performs procedures as necessary. 

Teamwork: Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others. Demonstrates respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.  

Evidence-based/Best Practice: Utilizes evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice. 

Professional Development: Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving.
